Cuzco School of Painting

In the seventeenth century, Peruvian natives were trained by the Spanish to produce paintings in the style of the great Spanish and Flemish masterpieces.  This tradition exists to the present day in the City of Cuzco, Peru -- the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere.  The following paintings are excellent examples of the world reknowned Cuzco School.  Click on the thumbnails to see more detailed images of these outstanding paintings.
